Red Tails and Questionable Choices

*sipping my tea watching the video*   Just pondering.  It would be nice to retire Madea and make some positive, informative movies for a change.   George Lucas bankrolled this movie..  *calling Tyler Perry.. where are youuuu?*  I realize it's your money and your choice but come on and break us off something meaningful.

George Lucas is betting $93 million of his own money that his new movie “Red Tails” will be a hit.

The creator of “Star Wars” reached into his own deep pockets to bankroll the new action movie about African-American pilots in World War II, spending $58 million to make it and $35 million more to distribute the film. Lucas serves as executive producer of “Red Tails.”

Will the force be with “Red Tails”? Even for someone as rich as Lucas, $93 million is a huge wager to place on a single film. “Red Tails” is set for release on Jan. 20, and so unless it schedules some advance official screenings, it will miss much of the lucrative holiday filmgoing season, and it also won’t be eligible for Oscar consideration.

Lucas has a long track record of blockbuster success that includes the “Star Wars” franchise, the Indiana Jones movies, and “American Graffiti.” People who worked on “Red Tails” say the action sequences evoke “Star Wars”–an association that can only help the movie’s box office prospects.

Through a spokesperson, Lucas said he was drawn to the subject because he wanted to make an action film about young men who were thrust into an incredible situation and, against the odds, proved to be great pilots as well as heroes.

Anthony Hemingway, Lucas’s handpicked director for “Red Tails,” says the film’s Jan. 20 release date could help bring in viewers looking to do something cultural around the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Hemingway also says that the film’s development went around the typical way movies are produced. “This isn’t about Hollywood,” Hemingway says. ‘This is an independent film.”

Just pondering and sipping my tea.

Friends (To Be or Not To Be)

I was sitting here thinking of the world and how I view people.   I think I see the folks in the most simplistic way. Either your cool or your not.  Not too many grey areas in my life.  I have exactly 5 true friends.  I am not quick to claim a person as my friend  because friendships are earned through trust, loyalty and riding out storms as well as tons of joy.

People abuse that word friendship.  Yes even friendships have their rough moments but like a wise woman told me.....

A True Friend will Stab You in Your FRONT.  (I like that)

This Is Why You Say A Prayer Before Surgery

*Brewing some tea*......... reading the internet news.

I remember mama used to say the reason you prayed before you ate was not only because you are grateful, but you also prayed over that food cause folks get sick from bad food sometimes.  Well when I had to have surgery one day she said she was gonna pray for me and I should be praying too cause when they put you under, you never know.    Mama.....I feel ya on that 100 percent.

Kim Grice, shown before and after her face caught on fire during surgery Tuesday to remove cysts in her head.

Ms. Grice went in for a routine outpatient procedure.  But something went horribly wrong during the Tuesday morning procedure and a flash fire seared Grice’s face and neck.   The 29-year-old mother of three was rushed by helicopter to the University of South Alabama Burn Unit with burns to her face and neck.

What happened to Kim Grice was not an isolated incident. Experts estimate that each year 650 fires flare up in operating rooms around the country. Some patients recover with scars and emotional damage. Some die from burns and smoke inhalation.   Experts say it shouldn’t be a surprise when fires flash in ORs. All the necessary ingredients are on hand to spark a conflagration.
These days more and more operations use electro-cautery devices and lasers. Those devices are what Dr. David Cowles calls the “trifecta” of elements – oxygen, alcohol prep and an ignition source - that lead to flash fires in the OR.
Wishing her a successful recovery.

Vanity is Thy Name

*Sipping tea and shaking my head*
How far will a person go to enhance body parts?

Well for some, it goes as far as agreeing to a mixture of cement, super glue, mineral oil and FIX-A-FLAT tire mender.  Some say it's vanity, others say it's low self esteem. Maybe its a touch of insanity.   Now I'm just speaking my mind,  but who in the world would be ok with letting a person that looks like
this

perform any type of procedure on them?

It is my opinion that we live in a "visual" world that has placed great emphasis on big behinds.  We see big bottom women in videos, magazines, reality TV stars and such.. Shucks, I  remember the big WOW over Jennifer Lopez's bottom and that was years ago and I used to crack up laughing because in my neighborhood that's all you saw.  Healthy bottom females were normal.   It also makes me wonder about the state of minds of the individuals that subject themselves to butt injections.   I was having tea time with some of my sistahfriends and we were sipping and chit chatting about it.   Ms. Tracy sucked her teeth and said "well if the men wasn't drooling over all these big tails a woman wouldn't feel like she had to go to the extreme to get noticed."    Ms. Rolanda stressed that its a lack of self love.  She got up and strutted about swinging her mini booty and said "love me as I am or exit stage left".

I thought about it and it kinda saddened me to realize that a person would go to this extreme, even to the point of putting their life at risk.  To have a risky procedure done in a hotel room for bargain basement prices is beyond my understanding.  I have read articles where they have even injected bathroom chalking sealants. I don't know what goes on in the mind of a person ( I say that because it is not only females but transgenders doing this).   We all have imperfections.  I know I got a few myself and if i could wave a wand they would be gone but I would never, risk my life to change the way I am.   If you can't accept me with my cellulite and lil baby tummy, I quote Ms. Rolanda when I say. "Love me as I am or exit stage left."

scuse me while I brew some fresh tea.........
